George Amory started in 1973 as a small retail fish shop in Portsmouth.
Over the next 5 years, George forged ahead with determination to make Amory's a Virginia landmark.
As he made soup and other cooked fish from the shop, his sister Shirley said he should open a restaurant, and the popular Amory's Restaurant was born on High Street, Portsmouth.
After several years in that location, in January 2007 a produce vendor mentioned that the owners of Stonebridge Restaurant in Chesapeake were preparing to retire, and the decision was made to relocate Amory's to the larger location on Old Taylor Road, just behind Chesapeake Square Mall.
The rest is still history in the making!
